Trips need to be booked by yourself between 23.10.2024 - 3.11.2024 on the website of the wild life sanctuary . *There is a mandatory briefing prior to enter Chiang Dao biosphere. We are happy to provide accommodation before you go up and when you come down from the trek.
1 Day Jungle Trek
Transfer to the trailhead in the jungle at the base
of Doi Chiang Dao. Easy 6 km Hike 200 m up hill and 400 m downhill through the
jungle to a waterfall and to a hill tribe village. Transfer back to Malee's.
English speaking guide is subject to availability.
Srisungwan Waterfall,
Hotspring, Burmese Temple, Chinese Village (1 Day)
Srisungwan Waterfall has all year round plenty
water. Children like to climb up all the steps. In the cold season it is nice
to plunge in the Hotspring . The Burmese Temple is build by refugees who settle
in the village below. In the Chinese village you can enjoy homemade Guioza and
Soup with fresh noodles. The yellow Songtaw Taxi with Thai driver (very little English)
will bring you to all these places. Entrance fees, transport with
private pickup Taxi is included. Lunch not included.

Tea and Coffee Plantation
(Half Day)

Birding at DYK
Lung Buk our Thai driver picks you up early morning
before dawn and takes you on a challenging dirt road to Den Ya Kat 1400
meters elevation. He does not speak English well but will stop when he spots birds
along the road. Highlights in
this area are the Hume's Pheasant and the Giant Nuthatch. Permits
to enter the Wild Life Sanctuary and lunch are not included.

Birding at Doi Kham Fah
Our english speaking guide picks you up early morning
before dawn and drivess you 55 Km to Doi Kham Fah 1800
meters elevation. He will stop when he spots birds
along the road and walk with you around the summit area. Highlights in
this area are the Hume's Pheasant and the Giant Nuthatch. Permits
to enter the national park and lunch are not included.

Tuesday Market
Located on the main road in Chiang Dao. Many Hill
tribes come to sell and buy their weekly supplies. Bargain Hunters will like to
grub through the second hand cloths. Fresh vegetables, fruits and mushrooms are
sold by the Hilltribe People. Transfer with the local taxi is 150 THB one
way.
Chiang Dao Cave
is just a
short walk (1km) away. A guide inside is available for up to 4 people for
200THB.
Thum Pha Plong Monastery
Within walking distance (600M) you get to this
beautiful Monastery embedded in the jungle. Hike up over 500 steps to the
Pagoda to enjoy the view of virgin jungle surrounding.
Hiking and Birding
Our area has many interesting trails for bird
watching and hiking: Nature trail, Fence trail, Gully trail, Smuggler trail,
Flag trail, Sleeping lady mountain and Muang Ngai Dam. Have a look at the maps
on the kitchen wall. For some challenging treks a GPS app is mandatory. (MapsMe, Locus, Osmand - Map3D)
Mountain Biking
The area also offers many excellent trails for
mountain biking. Mountain bikes can be rented for 100THB a day.
Motorbike (Scooter) can be rented at 300THB per day.
Hot spring
7 km away is a little hot spring. Some concrete
tubes are filled with hot sulphuric water. Free of charge.
Malee's Garden
A vast variety of plants and trees grow in our
large garden. Many tropical fruits can be found: Papaya, banana, mango,
coconut, pineapple, lychees, longan, rambuttan, lime, tangerines, rose apple, tamarinds,
star fruit, dragon fruit, custard apple, pomelo, grapes, dates and mulberries. Coffee, tea,
cacao, lemongrass and cinnamon are growing as well. Botanists will enjoy over 2000 orchid plants in our garden. There are 800 varietes, mostly Thai species. Some are tiny flowers of just 2mm, other flowering just a single day. If you search well, you find always something blooming. Malee's husband Kurt is a renowned macro photogrpher of orchids. Ask him to show some of his 3D-photographs.

Star gazing
The meaning of Chiang Dao is the city of the stars. During the cool season October to February the sky is mostly clear. Our big terrasse at the end of our property is a great place for enjoying the stars .
Hike & bike yourself
Routes are not marked and sometimes not even visible! On some routes even a machete is advantageous. Use GPS on your smartphone. We uploaded all major trails in our area. Locus with LoMaps on Android or Maps 3D on Iphone are recommended. We also have detailed maps displayed.
Wat Tham Pha Plong after 600m on the road you reach the temple area, where you climb 500steps to a pagoda midst in the jungle.
Nature Trail 4.5km (+Wat Tham Pakpiang +1km) This is the easiest trail and quite well visible. It starts with a steep 100m ascent, which will be slippery in wet season.
The flags are a real workout. Very steep, the trail is often not visible. Great views at the top.
The secret mountain 12km drive to the trailhead. A day hike with fantastic views. Absolutely secluded. GPS mandatory. Go for a swim at the end.
Hotsprings 7km one way. Bike or hike. There are secluded options through the forest and over the fields.
Chiang Dao 8km one way. Scenic bike or hike over the fields past three ponds, where our big mountain mirrors on the water. A coffee shop in the middle. Some beautiful Thai style villas before you reach the town.
